A 28-year-old security guard was shot dead in a drug store robbery Wednesday night in the coastal town of Navotas.
Police identified the fatality as Erano Bringas, of Accurate Security Agency and a detailed guard of Sta. Teresita Drug Store and Minimart in Agora Market, North Bay Boulevard South (NBBS).
The victim was about close the steel gate of the drug store at around 9:20 p.m., when two men armed with handguns forced their way inside the store, surprising cashier Elna Lopez, 18.
The suspects fired several shots hitting the guard in the head and chest.
They then went for the cash register and took cash amounting to P7,172 before fleeing on foot toward Carnation street.
Bringas was rushed for treatment at the Tondo Medical Center where he was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
Follow-up operations conducted by the Navotas police for the possible arrest of the suspects were futile. Pete Laude
