Two dead in road mishaps

A 48-year-old man died early yesterday morning after his vehicle rammed the barrier of a vacant lot in Parañaque City.

Police said Wilfredo Egurrola, of 654 Agana street, BF Homes, was driving his Toyota Land Cruiser (UJC-898) on Aguirre Avenue when he crashed into the concrete barrier.

Prober PO2 Alepio Dimaano said the Makati rescue team rushed Egurrola to the Olivarez Hospital. But the victim, who sustained fatal head injuries, was declared dead on arrival.

Police said they would continue with the investigation of the case to determine what caused the accident.

In Tondo, Manila, a 60-year-old man was killed after being run over by a truck yesterday morning.

Police identified the victim as Romeo Sadiwa, 60, a resident of 27 Road, North Bay Boulevard, Navotas. He died on the spot due to broken bones.

Traffic investigator SPO3 Rogelio Frias said the driver of truck with license plate GDT-290 managed to escape after the incident.

Frias noted that the incident took place at around 7:30 a.m. along Road 10, near the main entrance of Makro store in Tondo, Manila.

Police said the victim was riding a bicycle when he was hit by the right rear tire of the truck, which was cruising southward. Edu Punay, Cecille Suerte Felipe
