Top QC employers cited

-
The Quezon City government cited yesterday the city’s top five employers for their significant role in generating employment for 4,445 residents, mostly from urban poor areas.

During yesterday’s flagraising ceremonies, Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr. personally awarded plaques of appreciation to representatives of the firms, which have actively participated in job fairs conducted by the city government in the last 11 months.

Leading the awardees was the SM Group of Companies, represented by Jessamine Jimenez, senior vice president for operations.

The four other top employers are the Philippine Survey Research Center (PSRC), Dessert Plus, and Scribe Visions Market Research and Services. A special award was also given to Total Integrated Globe Employment Resource Inc.

Ignacio Santos Diaz, chief of the Industrial Relations Office, said the five are among 50 firms which have been coordinating with the city government in recruitment activities.

"Instead of advertising, this firms coordinate with our office for their manpower needs," Santos Diaz said.

Yesterday, Belmonte also awarded certificates of appreciation to members of the Central Police District anti-drug unit for their successful operations which resulted in the arrest of 51 suspected drug traffickers, including four foreigners.

The operations resulted in the confiscation of P9 million worth of shabu and 260 capsules of Ecstasy.

Belmonte said the city government is determined to carry an all-out war against illegal drugs. "We will also be giving more awards to deserving policemen," Belmonte said. – Perseus Echeminada
