Death of a salesman

Mystery shrouds the death of a salesman who was shot twice in the head in Sta. Cruz, Manila.

Probers have yet to establish the identity of the victim, who was about 62 years old and had two gunshot wounds in the head.

The victim was found sprawled at the corner of Rizal Avenue and Raon street in Sta. Cruz, Manila at around 6 a.m.

Inspector Norberto Obrero, chief of the Investigation Unit of the Western Police District (WPD) said investigators are puzzled as to why the killer had to shoot the victim twice.

"We are puzzled. One bullet would have killed the victim, why shoot him twice?" he asked.

Meanwhile, a barangay tanod was stabbed dead by a group of men believed to be members of a fraternity whom he accosted while hunting down members of their rival group in Sta. Ana, Manila.

Police identified the victim as Roland Barbado, 30, who sustained two stab wounds in the chest and back. He died on the way to the Philippine General Hospital.

Obrero said the incident took place on Saturday night in front of the victim’s house in Barangay 890, Zone 98, Sta. Ana, Manila.

Obrero said the victim was washing clothes in front of his house when the suspects arrived looking for certain persons.

The suspects reportedly got irked when Barbado asked about their purpose in looking for certain persons. They escaped after the incident.
