If not, they could be slapped with a P500 fine.
This after Metro Manila mayors signed the amended ordinance banning these devices in PUVs during the Metro Manila Council meeting last Thursday.
Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Traffic Operations Center (TOC) Executive Director Angelito Vergel de Dios said violators will be penalized outright.
"There wont be any first or second offenses for them. Their vehicles will be impounded while the tints are being scraped off," he said.
The MMDA decided to re-implement the ban on heavy tints and curtains to help prevent robberies inside PUVs.
According to the law, light curtains or blinds can still be used only when it is sunny.
Six inches-wide tints can be used for heavy and light vehicles.
The devices should not compromise the passengers safety. Nikko Dizon
