Hospital security guard stabbed by drunken cook
November 3, 2003 | 12:00am
A 38-year-old security guard of the Makati Medical Center (MMC) was rushed to the emergency room after a drunken male cook stabbed him Saturday afternoon inside the hospital.
Police Officer 2 Noel Pardinas, case investigator, said the victim, Edmund Isagon, a resident of 19-E Hermosa St., Green Village, Block 2, Pateros, sustained injuries on his face and left hand.
The police and an MMC security officer apprehended the suspect, Jose Oracion, 53, a resident of Block 5, Lot 2, Golden City, Dasmariñas, Cavite and was turned over to the Makati City police. He is now facing frustrated homicide charges.
Initial investigation showed that Isagon was on duty at the time of the incident at around 1:30 p.m. Saturday and was manning his post when he received a telephone call requesting him to proceed to the dressing room of the hospitals Dietary Department.
When he arrived at the department, Isagon said he saw Oracion, a cook at the Dietary Department of MMC, engaged in a drinking spree with another male companion. When asked for the name of his drinking buddy, the suspect did not reply and instead went out of the room. When he returned, he attacked Isagon with a 12-inch kitchen knife. The suspect allegedly tried to stab him a second time, but he reportedly managed to grab the knife, and injured his hand.
While Oracion was accosted by MMC security officer John Dapidap, Isagon was brought to the emergency room for proper medical treatment. Evelyn Macairan
