2 jeepney robbers arrested in Caloocan

Cops arrested two holdup men who preyed on passengers of a jeepney early in themorning yesterday in Caloocan City.
Rogelio Justiniano, 36, of 420 M. Hizon street, Caloocan City, and Roderick Victorino, 23, of Block 3, Lot 4, Lapu-Lapu Extension in Dagat-Dagatan also in Caloocan, were immediately apprehended by operatives of the police mobile patrol unit.
Senior Police Officer 3 Antonio Penaranda said that the suspects, armed with bladed weapons, robbed the passengers of a jeepney driven by Necitas de Luna, 42, while traversing along Rizal Avenue Extension corner 5th Avenue in Caloocan City at around 6:50 a.m.
While threatening the passengers with knives, the robbers stripped them of their cash and valuables, Penaranda said.
Two of the victims, Rejena Delantawi, 23, and Myrna Lowida, 40, of Bagong Barrio, Caloocan City, were divested of P2,300 in cash.
The suspects, however, fell short of escaping with their loot after a mobile patrol unit, led by Police Officer 2 Erickson Cruz and Police Officer 1 Noe Litton, detected the robbery.
The two suspects were subsequently arrested and their loot returned to their victims.
Police seized from the duo a kitchen knife and a cutter they used in robbing the passengers.
The suspects are now locked up at the Caloocan City police detention cell. Charges would be filed against them at the city prosecutors office.
