Suspect in slaying of barangay chief nabbed

One of the suspects in the assassination of a barangay captain in Quezon City was arrested the other day at his hideout in UP Village during a follow-up operations conducted by operatives of the Central Police District (CPD).

Barangay Pansol Chairman Rodrigo Borgonio was killed more than two weeks ago in front of the barangay hall, just as he was about to deliver his speech before constituents in Balara.

Sergio Ongriano, 19, jobless, of 4245 John Street, Cielito Homes, Camarin, Caloocan City, was captured at about 12:30 p.m. last Thursday at a house on Mahusay street, PO2 Joseph Madrid said.

Witnesses positively identified Ongriano as one of the six suspects who gunned down the 48-year-old barangay chief, he added.

Ongriano, is currently undergoing further tactical interrogation at the CPD headquarters in Camp Karingal. No bail has been recommended.

Borgonio died on Oct. 13 for sustaining three gunshot wounds in the head and another in the chest.

Initial investigation disclosed that two men approached Borgonio and shot him while several other suspects fired shots in the air to scare away the people.
