Meralco denied newspaper reports that a transformer explosion in Manila was the reason behind the injury of four persons.
In a statement issued to media, Meralco vice president for corporate communication Elpi Cuna Jr. said that contrary to the allegations of Barangay Kagawad Amir Cassan, Meralco is not to blame for the accident.
"Our investigation showed that it was not a transformer explosion but rather a line to ground contact of a laundry stick held by one of the four ladies that accidentally got in contact with our phase B 20KV line as witnessed by bystanders," Cuna said.
Cuna added that the incident happened at the third floor terrace fronting a safe distance from Meralcos electric primary line.
