World Day for Overcoming Extreme Poverty today

The United Nations has declared Oct. 17 The World Day for Overcoming Extreme Poverty. In the Philippines, it has been recognized as a national day.
This year, government agencies and NGOs will commemorate this event at the Stone in Honor of the Victims of Extreme Poverty in Luneta Park, 8 a.m.-12 noon with activities and programs participated by the poor families.
Everybody is invited to this special day. The event is an opportunity to gather all sections of society around the poorest and renew the call for a common commitment to overcome extreme poverty. For more information, log in to www.oct17.org or call 563-9312.
