Quezon City Mayor Feliciano Belmonte Jr. and Charito Planas, president of Quezon Park Development Foundation, unveiled yesterday two billboards at the Quezon City Memorial Circle, containing the biography of the late President Manuel L. Quezon as well as the code of citizenship and ethics.

The ceremony marked the start of the week-long 64th anniversary foundation of Quezon City.

Planas said the foundation set up the two billboards to allow the public to learn more about the late president.

"As the Quezon Memorial Circle is frequented by thousands of students, we deemed it appropriate to install two billboards depicting Quezon’s life and code of ethics, for the youth to emulate and be enlightened of what its takes to be a patriot and champion of social justice and democracy.

She said recalling Quezon’s private and public life "Should remind us that our country and our people are more than capable of producing great leaders."

The unveiling signaled the start of "EntrePinoy Congress and Exposition" showcasing various agricultural products and innovations of entrepreneurs in various parts of the city.

Belmonte took time yesterday to visit the displays at the agro-industrial fair, which showcases several plants and products.

Nathan Zulueta, president of Quezon City Commerce and Industry (QCCCI) and city treasurer Victor Endriga, chairman of the week-long celebration, said celebration of the city’s foundation anniversary involves one entire week of fun, entertainment, carnival rides, bazaars and tiangges.

Zulueta said a two-day Business Congress will also be held at the Celebrity Sports Plaza. The congress is the business community’s way of expressing gratitude to Belmonte over the transformation of Quezon City from a financially distressed city to the richest local government in the country.

"Mayor Belmonte will also report to the business community the achievements of the city government in the last two and half years and he will also share his future programs and vision for the city," he said.
