Cop shoots neighbor after heated argument

A policeman was sent to jail for the shooting to death his neighbor in Quezon City the other day.

PO2 Vic Simodio, 33, assigned at General Headquarters Support Group in Camp Crame, and a resident of No. 69 Kaingin Road, Balintawak, Quezon City, was charged with homicide.

Simodio is now detained at the Central Police District Criminal Investigation Unit (CIU).

Police said Simodio and the victim identified as Edwin Burlaos, 28, driver, of the same address, had a heated argument over the slapping of the victim’s younger brother, Andy, by the suspect.

Andy told the victim that he was slapped by the suspect for unknown reasons.

Both the victim and the suspect were drunk when the former confronted and castigated the latter for slapping his brother.

The suspect got irked and without warning pulled his service firearm and shot the victim on the head.

The victim was immediately rushed by his neighbors and the suspect to the Quezon City General Hospital but was dead on arrival. Pia Lee Brago
