8 hurt in LPG blast

Eight persons, including a toddler, were seriously hurt after an LPG tank exploded the other night in Quezon City.
Victims Marilou and Rick Frias were rushed to the East Avenue Medical Center while Israel Asoy, 24; Consolacion, 71, Joan, 14, Julie, 38, Ronald Jayson, 12, and one-year-old RC Fernandez were brought to the Veterans Medical Memorial Center for treatment. All were residents of 38 Road 6, Barangay Pag-asa.
Initial investigation revealed that the incident happened about 9:25 p.m.
Fire Officer 3 Nomer Villanueva said that the victims were trying to install a new LPG tank when it exploded. The victims suffered second degree burns.
SFO2 Virgilio Agpaoa said the burner may have been left on while the LPG tank was being connected. But investigators are also looking into the possibility that the tank was defective. Katherine Adraneda
