Number coding still on for two months

-
President Arroyo gave the number coding scheme for Public Utility Vehicles (PUVs) another two months until the organized EDSA bus route is fully implemented by the Metropolitan manila Development Authority (MMDA).

This was what MMDA Chairman Bayani Fernando said after the Regional Development Coordinating Council meeting attended by the President, top Cabinet officials, Metro Manila mayors, and leaders of transport groups.

MMDA Traffic Operations Center (TOC) Executive Director Angelito Vergel de Dios, however, clarified that private vehicles would still have to follow the number coding even after it is lifted for PUVs.

Public Utility Buses (PUB) group leaders had earlier asked the MMDA to lift the number-coding scheme with the moderate success of the yellow lane scheme on EDSA. Nikko Dizon
