An operative of the Narcotics Intelligence Assistance Group (NARCOM) was shot dead by the father of one of the alleged drug suspects he was about to arrest in Quezon City yesterday morning.
Technical Sergeant Dominador Buenafe, of Bgy. Talipapa, Novaliches, Quezon City, died due to multiple gunshot wounds.
Police said a resident of Brgy. Apolonio Samson Road discovered the lifeless body of Buenafe lying in front of No. 102 Quinton Bultiong St. at around 9:50 a.m.
Prior to the discovery of the victims body, residents in the area told investigators they heard five successive gun shots. The residents later saw Buenafe sprawled and bloodied on the pavement.
A witness told the police that Buenafe went inside the house of one Michael Francisco, a suspected drug dependent, whom he was about to arrest. However, Franciscos father, identified as Eugenio, intervened resulting in a heated argument.
At the height of the argument, the old man allegedly pulled out a gun and shot the victim repeatedly.
The suspect told the police that he had no idea why Buenafes lifeless body was found just a few meters away from his house.
A paraffin test will be conducted again on the suspect and members of his family as police have not recovered the gun used in the shooting incident.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a lady marketing manager was shot by an unidentified man in Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City on Saturday night.
Liezl Armolon, 29, marketing manager of VS Classic Clothing and a resident of Phase 7-B Blk. 87 Lot 7, Package 111, died while being treated at the Far Eastern Hospital.
Investigation showed that the victim, who was driving a Toyota Grandia with license plate no. WKK 841, stopped to let the suspect cross the street. However, the suspect stood in front of the vehicle and shot the victim in the head. Pia Lee-Brago
