The Quezon City Council, headed by its presiding officer, Vice Mayor Herbert Bautista, said the 26-member council has lined up various activities during the Philippine Councilors’ Week from Sept. 7.
City Council Pro Tempore, Councilor Jorge Banal, chairman for this year’s celebration, said other highlights include a mega job fair, a celebrity Bazaar sponsored by Mowelfund, a community visitation to hospital and other institutions.
A thanksgiving Mass in coordination with the Sunday Television Mass Ministry, will be offered today to highlight the beginning of the week-long celebration. The Mass will be telecast live at ABS-CBN Channel 2.
The week-long celebration of Philippine Councilors’ week aims to enhance the local legislator as proactive partners towards peace, tourism and environment.
The annual observance of the Philippine Councilors week is in pursuance of Presidential Proclamation 212 issued on July 23, 1993.
