Two people were hurt and six families lost their homes in a three-hour fire that hit a residential area in San Juan yesterday.
Arson investigators claimed faulty electrical wiring ignited the fire that injured Rene Gabasa, 42, and Reynaldo Martin, 60. Gabasa sustained first degree burns in the body while Martin was treated for wounds in the face.
The fire started in the kitchen of the house owned by Carmen Ariola on M.H. del Pilar street, Barangay Maytunas at 3:09 a.m. Strong winds fanned the flames to adjacent houses made of light materials.
Gabasa was helping neighbors evacuate their belongings when flames caught up with him. Luckily, he was able to rush out before being trapped by the blaze. Martin was also evacuating the family belongings when hit by falling debris.
The fire was put out around 6:07 a.m. Non Alquitran
