Joint elements of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Bureau of Immigration (BI) arrested five Chinese nationals, one for alleged possession of illegal drugs andfour others for being undocumented aliens during an operation Saturday night in Malabon City.
Superintendent Pete Ramos, Malabon City police chief, said that Shi Sheng Pang, alias Stanley Sy, was arrested for illegal possession of 28 pieces of ecstasy weighing 10.10 grams at his residence at 69 White Lily street, Block 15, Lot 4, Victoneta North Subdivision in Barangay Potrero.
Sys four compatriots, identified as Chen Hai Rui, 19; Chen Jing Shen, 21; Lin Zhi Wei, 20; and Gou Da Ming, 51; all natives of Fokien, China, were apprehended by BI operatives after they reportedly failed to present any documentation which will justify their stay in the country.
Investigation showed that the Malabon City police led by Ramos, with the operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), and the BI, conducted anti-narcotics operation against Sy and his brother Eugene at 3 Jasmin street, Araneta Village, also in Barangay Potrero.
The operatives, however, failed to arrest the Sy brothers, as the specified address stated in the search warrant issued by Malabon City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Assistant Executive Judge Emmanuel Laurea was inconsistent.
The operation on Jasmin street, however, resulted in the apprehension of four undocumented Chinese nationals.
Unable to catch their prospective targets, the operatives continued the search for the suspects and traced their exact address at 69 White Lily street in Barangay Potrero.
Sources said Sy is now in the custody of the PDEA while his four compatriots were placed under BIs custody. <
