Drug busters receive death threats

- Non Alquitran -
Two police officials, who played key roles in the recent busting of the transnational drug syndicate headed by Jackson Dy, are receiving death threats.

Superintendents Nelson Yabut and Neri Ilagan, team leaders of the police anti-illegal drugs special operations task force (AID-SOTF) claimed they received phone calls from male callers threatening them for neutralizing Dy’s drug syndicate.

Yabut and Ilagan figured prominently in the raid of Dy’s shabu laboratory in Tanza, Cavite and his townhouses in Marina Bay Homes in Parañaque City and in F. B. Harrison in Pasay City. The separate raids yielded 361 kilos of shabu and billions worth of equipment and raw materials used in the manufacture of illegal drugs.

"Mag-ingat ka sa pagbira kay Jackson Dy. Babawi kami (We will get back at you for arresting Jackson Dy)," Yabut quoted the male caller as saying.

Another caller told Ilagan, "Mag-ingat kayo sa binabanatan n’yo (Be careful in arresting suspects)."

The two police officials strongly believe that the well-organized drug syndicate headed by Dy was behind the threats on their lives.

"The death threats we are receiving are part of the modus operandi of the drug syndicate to get even with policemen who neutralized their illegal operations," said Yabut in an interview.

When reached for comment, top drug buster Deputy Director General Edgar Aglipay said death threats are normal among policemen rendering service to the country.

"The war is on. The drug syndicate members should be the one who are on the defensive and not us. We will go after them wherever they are holding out," said Aglipay in an interview.

According to Aglipay, Dy with his wife Wang Li Na and other foreigners arrested with them could not bribe their captors this ti
