August 12, 2003 | 12:00am
Seven persons, including a family of five, were hurt yesterday morning after an ambulance rushing a patient to the hospital and a taxi collided on Quezon Avenue in Quezon City.
Senior Police Officer 2 Jun Cuaresma of the Quezon City Traffic Sector 1 identified those injured as Alfredo Ealde, 33, Celario Serrano, 40, and the Buenaventura family Ruben, 23; Armando, 31; Eduardo, 25; Carmelita, 57; and Alexander, 16.
Investigation revealed that the Buenaventuras and Serrano, on board the ambulance driven by Mario Sanchez, 44, were on their way to the East Avenue Medical Center (EAMC) to bring Alexander for treatment. The teenager had just been stabbed.
But as the ambulance crossed the intersection of Quezon Avenue and Agham Road, it hit a taxi being driven by Nicomedes Deco, 33. Ealda was the lone passenger in the cab.
Both drivers tried to avoid hitting each other but it was too late.
