A retired Philippine Army soldier was stabbed dead allegedly by a friend over an old grudge on Saturday night in Makati City.
Armando Soriano, 54, of 29th Avenue Extension, Barangay East Rembo, succumbed to a stab wound in the chest while undergoing treatment at the Ospital ng Maynila, police said.
Soriano also sustained a laceration on the neck.
Witnesses identified the suspect as Dodong Bautista, alias Dondon, a neighbor of the victim.
Sorianos rank in the military was not immediately known. But case investigator SPO1 Leweli Cristobal said the victims relatives said he served in the Army.
Investigation showed that prior to the incident, Soriano and Bautista were having a drinking session with two other men. But the two reportedly excused themselves from the group to try to resolve an old grudge between them.
Cristobal said Soriano went back to the drinking session without the suspect. Minutes later, however, Bautista returned and stabbed the victim. Soriano was rushed to the hospital but died two hours later.
Police are now conducting a manhunt operation for Bautista, who fled after the incident. Nikko Dizon
