Another body found in Taguig

- Evelyn Macairan -
A day after a construction worker was found on a dirt road, the body of a female with two stab wounds was discovered stuffed inside a box in Taguig yesterday morning.

Police Officer 2 Ehron Balawat, case investigator, said the victim was between 25 to 27 years old, with curly, shoulder length hair, about 5’2 in height and with fair complexion. The box was dumped near a mosque on Mindanao Avenue in Maharlika Village.

Her body is now being examined at the Philippine National Police Crime Laboratory.

"The victim was discovered at around 6:40 a.m. yesterday. Her hands were bound with a black string, while her feet were tied together with a cloth so she could fit inside the box," Balawat said.

The victim was stabbed in the right side of her stomach and right arm. There were also strangulation marks on her neck. Police said she had been dead for about three hours when her body was discovered.

Balawat raised the possibility that the victim was killed somewhere else and her body dumped near the mosque.

"There were no witnesses and the area is poorly lit. We were not able to preserve the crime scene because the person who found her had torn the box open. The rain also spoiled the crime scene," he added.

Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Sison, Taguig police chief, said they have intensified police visibility especially at night and have been coordinating with Mayor Sigfrido Tinga.

"The mayor agreed that six newly purchased vehicles would be used by the local government in the morning, but at night time they would be used by local police for monitoring and patrol. We hope that these units would be turned over to us permanently," Sison said.

Meanwhile, Taguig police captured one of the three suspects in the stabbing of a construction worker last Tuesday morning in Barangay Sto. Niño.

Police Officer 3 Alain Sigua said murder charges have been filed against the suspect who resides in the barangay.

Based on the information given by a witness. The victim was last seen eating with the three suspects around 2 a.m. last Tuesday.

Police officers, accompanied by barangay security personnel, arrested the suspect in his house at around 9 a.m. They found a knife with bloodstains hidden inside a container for rice grains. They also found wet clothes in the bathroom.

"At present, we cannot yet ascertain if the knife was the murder weapon used. This is still being examined at the PNP Crime Laboratory," said Police Officer 1 Eddie Tirazona.
