Traffic cops kill 2 in QC shootout

Two suspected car thieves were killed in a shootout with elements of the Philippine National Police-Traffic Management Group (PNP-TMG) in Sto. Domingo, Quezon City before dawn yesterday.

Police investigators identified the slain suspects as Roberto Gonzales, 23, and Gonzalo Peralta, 35, both of Pasay City.

Investigation showed that the TMG-NCR team was conducting a patrol when they spotted two men acting suspiciously inside a vehicle along Araneta Avenue corner Quezon Avenue at around 5:30 a.m.

The lawmen signaled the victims to stop and park the vehicle for an inspection.

Instead of stopping, the suspects sped off, prompting the traffic officers to chase them.

The victims tried to elude arrest by firing their guns at the lawmen along Biak na Bato street near the corner of Maria Clara street in Sto. Domingo.
