Makati mutineers leave grocery list

- Nikko Dizon -
Members of the Magdalo group that staged the July 27 mutiny reportedly took groceries worth P22,000 from an upscale supermarket adjacent to the Oakwood Premier luxury apartments in Makati City, then left a list of the items for the management’s information.

Rustan’s Supermarket at Glorietta 4 reported the incident to the Makati police yesterday through its liaison officer, Luis Camomot, police records showed.

Senior Police Officer 4 Dioscoro Asinas Jr., officer-in-charge of the Theft and Robbery section said the Rustain’s management has yet to file a formal complaint against the Magdalo group, led by Navy Lt. Senior Grade Antonio Trillanes IV.

Supermarket security reportedly recovered the renegade soldiers’ "The Corps" notebook with the name Ian Luis D. Badecao III, which had the complete list of items supposedly taken by the mutineers.

The items taken were three padlocks, 10 boxes of Lucky Me Supreme sotanghon, three boxes of mineral water, a box of cooking oil, four boxes of canned tuna, three boxes of toasted cashew nuts, two boxes of canned sardines, seven kilos of rice, two boxes of calamansi concentrate, five kilos of salt, and three kilos of onion and garlic.

The report was signed by one Rizaldy Magaan, the night-shift officer.

Asinas said the management did not show him the notebook.

The rebel soldiers had prepared themselves for a long haul last Sunday. The STAR observed several gallons of water in identical blue containers and boxes of assorted canned goods among others.

Earlier, several establishments at the Glorietta 4 in Ayala Center also reported to the police that their kiosks had been looted presumably by the rebel soldiers.

However, Asinas said none of the owners have filed charges against the Magdalo group.

Nevertheless, Asinas said police are investigating the incidents.
