July 21, 2003 | 12:00am
A 26-year-old jeepney dispatcher in Alabang broke into a house on Sulu street in Ayala Alabang Village in Muntinlupa City and raped a 22-year-old housemaid on Saturday night.
Derick Lorica, married and a resident of Purok 7-C, Alabang was arrested by the Muntinlupa police hours after the incident.
PO2 Santiago Roldan told The STAR that the victim was alone in the house as her employers, reportedly Japanese nationals, were abroad. A medico-legal examination at the Philippine National Police (PNP) crime laboratory in Camp Crame confirmed that the victim, a native of Bohol, had been raped.
Investigation showed that the victim left the house to get items a neighbor borrowed for a party. When she returned, she went to the masters bedroom to clean it but Lorica, who was already inside the room, locked the door, bound and gagged her with dirty clothes and raped her.
After the assault, Lorica fled taking with him the victims cellular phone and her employers jewelry and a pair of designer jeans all worth some P30,000.
The victim sought the help of village officials who contacted the police.
The Muntinlupa police set up Loricas entrapment with the help of the victims friend who called up the stolen cellular phone and invited Lorica to meet with her at the Metropolis Mall.
At the mall, the woman called the victims cell phone and soon after she saw a man approaching her. When the suspect answered the call, PO3 Ricardo Gomez and PO1 Roderick Selorio immediately arrested him.
Police also recovered the other stolen items.
Charges of robbery and rape would be filed against Lorica who is now detained at the Criminal and Investigation Division. Nikko Dizon
