Some P5 million in property went up in smoke in a three-hour fire that hit a stockroom of a hardware store in Quezon City early yesterday morning.
Fire broke out at the Jorosal Hardware and Construction Supply located at a residential-commercial building on 62 Kamias Road near EDSA, Barangay West Kamias at 1:22 a.m.
No one was reported hurt in the blaze, which reached the fifth alarm.
Fire Officer 3 Fortunato Alde said the fire started at the ceiling of the buildings third floor, which quickly spread down to the second floor.
Fifteen firetrucks responded to the incident. Firemen declared a "fire out" at 4:38 a.m.
"Medyo nahirapan at natagalan patayin ang sunog kasi puro flammables ang nakalagay sa second and third floor ng building," Alde told The Star.
The first floor of the three-story establishment served as the hardware shop, owned by a certain Rod David.
Fire investigators are still conducting a follow-up investigation to determine the cause of the fire. Katherine Adraneda
