NFA clarifies office transfer

The impending transfer of the National Food Authority to a building in Ortigas Center, Pasig City has been carefully studied and evaluated by its officials, NFA administrator Arthur Yap said yesterday.

Yap debunked claims made by the NFA Employees’ Association that the management disregarded other options related to the decision to temporarily move offices from Matimyas and Tengsico buildings in Quezon City to one San Miguel Avenue building.

"Management had undertaken serious study on this issue of transfer since three years ago. The major considerations for the transfer are safety of the employees, their productivity and the high cost of rent," he said.

Yap stressed that the transfer will cost only P11.7 million and not P50 million as claimed by the employees’ association.
