Akyat-Bahay gang member arrested
June 23, 2003 | 12:00am
Elements of the Muntinlupa police arrested yesterday a suspected member of Akyat-Bahay gang for stealing about P200,000 worth of auto supplies and equipment.
PO3 Rey Quizon and PO2 Roldan Santiago said William Sanchez, 36, was accosted in Lubao, Pampanga during a follow-up operation.
Investigation showed that Sanchez was hired by Edmundo Salvador as a caretaker of his property, the E.P. Salvador Trading and Construction Supply located along National Road, Barangay Tunasan, Muntinlupa City in January 2003.
However, Sanchez left the house without any permission from Salvador on the night of June 19.
This prompted Salvador to suspect Sanchez of wrongdoing. Inspecting his shop, he discovered that many goods such as calibration tools, handy generators and machines were missing.
Salvador immediately reported the incident to the police.
Quizon surmised that Sanchez only posed as a jobless man but was actually a robber after looting Salvadors shop of valuables.
He said the looting might have started since February.
Further investigation revealed that Sanchez was a suspect in a rape with homicide case in Lubao, where he previously stayed before working in Muntinlupa.
Sanchez will be charged with qualified theft before the Parañaque Prosecutors Office.
According to Quizon, police are currently conducting another follow-up operation for the arrest of Sanchezs cohorts identified only as a certain Pakyaw and the suspects nephew named Benjie.
He noted that during interrogation, Sanchez admitted being a member of the Akyat-Bahay gang and tagged Pakyaw and Benjie as his partners in crime.
