3 hurt in Parañaque shootout

- Katherine Adraneda -
Three persons, including a police officer and traffic enforcer, were seriously wounded following a shootout between authorities and hold-up men in Parañaque City the other night.

PO1 Jonie Manigo of Police Community Precinct 4 in Parañaque, traffic enforcer Marcelo Globia and Bernie Galope, a bystander, were rushed to the Olivarez Medical Center for sustaining bullet wounds in different parts of the body.

Parañaque City chief of police Superintendent Ronald Estilles said the incident happened around 7:45 p.m. on Saturday at the corner of the NAIA and Kabihasnan roads in Barangay San Dionisio.

Police reports said a checkpoint was set-up in the area to arrest six unidentified men who earlier held-up a jeepney bound for South Super Highway. After the heist, the suspects reportedly boarded another passenger jeepney.

As the authorities were about to search another passenger jeepney (PVT-131) at the checkpoint, successive gunshots suddenly broke out and a brief exchange of gunfire ensued.

A flock of El Shaddai members attending a prayer rally nearby went into panic that resulted in a commotion, which enabled the suspects to escape.
