Police still attracting recruits

-
Despite the risk that goes with the responsibility of being a policeman, a lot of people, majority of whom are fresh graduates, still want to join the force.

Earlier this week, some 322 new recruits took their oath before National Capital Region Police Office chief Deputy Director General Reynaldo Velasco after they hurdled the rigid screening, involving physical and neurological examinations set by the selection committee chaired by NCRPO deputy for administration Rowland Albano.

The 322 new recruits started their three-month Public Safety Basic Recruit Course at the Philippine Training Institute in Camp Vicente Lim in Calamba, Laguna.

Velasco advised the new batch of recruits to stay focused to their sworn duty of serving the public and ensure peace and order in the metropolis.

"Our new breed of cops should be tough on criminals but act like a perfect gentleman to citizenry. Any police officer who cannot abide by simple acts of courtesy is in the wrong field and should have not joined the force," Velasco said as he expressed admiration for their head-strong resolve to become police officers, despite the difficult process they went through.

Velasco said that the new recruits should embody Pulis Malinis, Pulis Magalang and Pulis Malinis, a program of the NCRPO which is aimed at projecting a decent, honest and polite police officer.

After undergoing the basic training course, the NCRPO chief said that the new batch of recruits will immediately be given their assignment to augment the PNP personnel in the field thereby ensuring the police visibility.
