Court witness gunned down

A 46-year-old man, who was set to testify in court, was gunned down by a still unidentified man while on his way to the Caloocan City regional trial court the other day.

Declared dead on the spot due to multiple gunshot wounds in the head and body was Lito Alcovindras, 46, married, of 1122 Gumamela street, Sitio Gitna, Kaybiga, Caloocan City.

Police are now tracking down the suspect, who escaped immediately after pumping four bullets at the victim.

Investigation showed the victim was walking at 6:30 a.m. along Jasmin Street, Sitio Gitna allegedly to attend a hearing as witness to a murder case at the Caloocan RTC.

Alcovindras was walking with a companion, Gloria Espiritu, when an unidentified man suddenly blocked their path and without warning shot the victim several times at pointblank range.

Follow up investigation is being conducted to determine the motive of the killing.  Jerry Botial
