Two siblings, aged six and five, apparently drowned when they slipped and fell into the swollen Malabon-Navotas River, Malabon City police reported yesterday.
Found floating in early stages of decomposition in the river were Angelica Iganan and her younger brother Jaime Jr., of Estrella Street, Barangay Tañong, Malabaon.
Belated reports reaching the office of Chief Superintendent Marcelino Franco Jr. showed that the bodies were recovered at around 2 p.m. Wednesday.
The victims were reported missing Wednesday morning. Earlier, neighbors noticed them playing by the riverbank not far from their residence.
Police said that the two were carried away by the strong current after they fell while playing in the rain. Jerry Botial, Pete Laude
