Separate suicides in QC
June 18, 2003 | 12:00am
Personal problems drove a 20-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman to kill themselves inside their respective homes the other day in separate incidents in Quezon City.
Victim Leo Jamuson, 20, of 199 Calamba Extention, Barangay Tatalon, was found hanging from the ceiling of his room with an electrical cord looped around his neck.
Police sources said that Jamuson was having "trouble with his relationship" and has been depressed for several days now.
His neighbor found him dead at about 9:30 p.m. inside his rented room. Cursory examinations showed that the victim sustained ligature marks on his neck. No other external injuries were found on his body.
Meanwhile, 22-year-old Rizza Mateo, of 70 J. Ocampo St., Project 4, in Barangay Milagrosa, was found dead inside a vacant room of their house at about 5:30 a.m. yesterday.
Like Jamuson, Mateo was allegedly "overwhelmed" with personal problems. Her mother Vanessa and other family members found her lying on her back with frothy secretions on her mouth.
Authorities said the woman was last seen alive the night before. They stressed that Mateo may have consumed a detergent or most probably, an insecticide solution.
Follow-up investigations are currently being conducted on the two suicide cases to make sure that no foul play was involved, police said. Matthew Estabillo
