Visa con man nabbed

A man passing himself of as a US visa consultant for persons seeking hassle-free migration to the US fell into the hands of authorities in an entrapment at a mall in Caloocan City the other day.

Superintendent Dionicio Borromeo, station investigation and intelligence division (SIID) chief, identified the suspect as Ranel Tiglao, 39, married, and resident of 4239 Diam street, Valenzuela City.

Tiglao was arrested at around 1:20 p.m. last Friday in an entrapment operation set up at a fastfood outlet on the ground floor of the Gotesco Grand Central.

The arrest was prompted by a complaint made by Eloisa Capati, 25, single and a resident of 107 Josefina street, 3rd Avenue, Caloocan City. She claimed she lost P260,000 in alleged fees collected by the suspect.

Capati told probers Tiglao received the amount on separate occasions last May 27 and June 9. After receiving the cash, Tiglao allegedly tried to collect another P10,000.

Capati grew suspicious since there had been no developments in her bid to leave the country. She reported the incident to the police and sought their assistance. – Jerry Botial
