June 10, 2003 | 12:00am
A former member of the Northern Police District Office (NPDO) was shot and stabbed to death by a still unidentifid man early yeserday morning in Caloocan City.
Superintendent Dionicio Borromeo, Station Intelligence and Investigation Division (SIID) chief, identified the victim as Arnel Granan, 28, single, and resident of 29-A Copper Road, Pilar Village, Las Piñas City.
Police said they could not yet identify the suspect, apparently known to the witnesses, who allegedly feared reprisals if they told the police.
PO2 Michael Viray, officer on case, said the incident happened at around 3 a.m. along Baltazar Bukid Street in Barangay 66, Zone 6, Caloocan City.
Earlier, the victim was reportedly in the area probing into alleged brisk sales of illegal drugs. Police theorized that the presence of the former NPDO cop sent the pushers into panic and decided to eliminate him.
