The suspect, Arman Samama, alias Toks sustained multiple gunshot wounds in the body. He died on his way to the Taguig-Pateros District hospital.
Councilor Henry Duenas Jr., chairman of the town’s committee on Peace and Order, said Samama was listed as one of the notorious drug pushers in Taguig and has been a target of surveillance operations.
During a meeting over the weekend, chaired by Duenas and attended by local drug enforcement unit (DEU) and Task Force Peacemaker headed by SPO1 Pablo Liscano, it was agreed that they would neutralize the illegal operations of Samama.
Duenas coordinated with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and at about 2:30 p.m., PO2 Renato Jaime conducted a test buy on Samama for a sachet of shabu worth P1,000.
After it was established that the white substance placed inside the sachet was positive of shabu, Duenas led police operatives to effect the arrest of Samama, who was still in the same area where Jaime purchased the illegal drugs.
The newly-arrived raiders introduced themselves and ordered Samama to surrender.
However, instead of heeding the policemen’s call, Samama pulled out a caliber .45 automatic pistol from his waist and aimed it at the policemen.
Duenas, who managed to get near Samama, grabbed his arm and grappled for possession of the handgun. Samama managed to free himself and opened fire at Duenas but missed.
It was at this juncture when Liscano and his men opened fire hitting Samama in different parts of the body.
Police recovered at the crime scene, Samama’s .45 pistol and a magazine loaded with six live bullets, four spent shells, a black wallet contained P25 and the victim’s identification cards.
They also confiscated from Samama’s possession the P1,000 marked money and the shabu worth P1,000.
Samama’s relatives retrieved his cadaver from the Quiogue Funeral homes where it was brought.
No relatives also turned up before the Taguig police station to coordinate or provide additional information regarding Samama. – Non Alquitran
