Chopped bodies identified by kin

Barely a day after chopped body parts were found in different areas in Quezon City, authorities said yesterday they have finally identified the fatalities leaving skeptics to think that police were behind the gruesome killings. The victims were identified as Dong Suarez of Marikina City and Bernie Suarez of 539 Hereford Street, Project 8, Quezon City. Investigators said the two were not related.

Sources said that policemen could actually be the killers and not a vigilante group, because the process of identifying the two were almost "too easy". The Central Police District denied the reports. At the same time, authorities said that Dong Suarez was allegedly involved in drug pushing and was part of the group that supplied 500 kilos of shabu to a police official. Bernie Suarez, a businessman, was named as one of the fatalities after his wife Jocelyn identified him at the Philippine National Police crime laboratory. She went to the crime laboratory after Suarez failed to return home the other night and heard about the killings.

The chopped body parts of the two including their torsos, hands heads and feet, were found in the areas of Quezon Avenue, Cubao, Araneta Ave., Bgy. South Triangle and Payatas.

Probers found a written message a torso placed inside a balikbayan box that read: "Babala sa mga tulak na gamot, abangan, you’re next."

The body parts were found one after the other from 5 am to 8:30 am.

Investigators believe that the two men were killed, chopped into pieces, and their body parts disposed at the said areas. Police said that a vigilante group wass responsible for the killings. – Matthew Estabillo
