Body parts everywhere

- Matthew Estabillo -
Police are now going after a vigilante group following the discovery of chopped body parts of suspected drug pushers yesterday morning in separate places in Quezon City.

Investigators said two sets of torsos, severed hands, decapitated heads, and chopped feet were found on Quezon Avenue, Cubao, Araneta Avenue, Barangay South Triangle and Payatas.

The Central Police District said two suspected drug pushers could be the fatalities, although they have yet to identify any of them as of yesterday afternoon.

Sources believe that this could be the work of a vigilante group out to "exterminate" suspected drug pushers. Probers found a written message on a torso placed inside a balikbayan box that said: "Babala sa mga tulak ng bawal na gamot, abangan.... you’re next. It was signed "vigilantee."

"We know people are concerned about the proliferation of drugs in the metropolis, but I hope they don’t take the law into their own hands. Otherwise, we will be in a state of chaos very soon," PO3 Rogelio Esteves said.

Bystanders found a torso and the severed hands wrapped in plastic inside a balikbayan box at about 5 a.m. along Quezon Avenue beside the Lungsod Ng Kabataan hospital on Agham Road.

At about 6:15 a.m., the two chopped left feet were found along Scout Madrian street, South Triangle. Minutes later, the two right feet were discovered at a portion of the Payatas dump in Batasan Hills.

The two decapitated heads were found inside a plastic bag floating on the Talayan Creek near a supermarket on Araneta Avenue.

The last of the chopped body parts, another torso, was finally located by street sweeper Aira Era at about 8:30 a.m. in front of a house at 36 Saint Mary street, Barangay Rodriguez, Cubao.

Policemen said that while they are looking at other possible angles on the case, the vigilante angle is the most "probable one at the moment."

Meanwhile, police found two bodies of still unidentified men in separate areas in Novaliches, Quezon City.

Authorities said that the two bodies were found at about 5:30 a.m. almost simultaneously in Barangay Sauyo and Sarmiento street.

The first victim sustained at least three stab wounds in the chest and abdomen, while it the cause of death of the second person is still "currently under investigation."

Investigators did not link the discovery of the victims to the chopped body parts, saying they are totally "different cases."
