Gun found on curfew violators

-
Two teenage boys accosted for violating a curfew in Malate before dawn yesterday got into a deeper trouble after police officers found one of them in possession of a gun.

Police said the one of the boys had a caliber .22 Micro-Uzi in the right pocket of his pants. The 17-year-old boy is a second-year high school student and a resident of Multinational Village in Parañaque City.

SPO4 Cecilio Sacorum said the second boy, also 17 years old, is a second year college student and a resident of Pasig Line in Sta. Ana, Manila.

Investigation showed that the boys were caught by a police team at 3 a.m. Tuesday at the corner of J. Nakpil and Vasquez streets in Malate. Since last year, a ban on minors has been imposed in Manila.

When the team arrived, the suspects were sitting on the pavement. They could not produce identification cards. After discovering the weapon, the team referred the case to the General Assignment Section of the Western Police District.

The second boy said he did not know the other boy had a firearm. He added he only met him last Monday night during a drinking spree in Malate. – Cecille Suerte Felipe
