Man jumps from overpass

An unidentified man was killed after jumping from a pedestrian overpass and landing on top of a moving vehicle on EDSA in Makati City the other day.

PO2 Jason David of the Makati police homicide division said the incident took place at 12:30 p.m. last Sunday along EDSA near Evangelista street, Barangay Bangkal.

David said several pedestrians saw the victim angrily walking back and forth on the overpass, even talking to himself at one point. The victim then climbed over the railing of the overpass and jumped, landing on a Mitsubishi L-300 van, driven by a certain Ramonito Buhat.

The impact caused a huge dent on the roof of the van, forcing the driver to get out of his vehicle.

Buhat said the man was still alive when he carried and placed the body in his van. He drove to the Ospital ng Manila, where the unidentified man was declared dead on arrival.

Investigators have so far found nothing that would help identify the jumper.

In Binondo, Manila, a 48-year-old woman jumped to her death from a building’s rooftop Sunday night, a week after attending the wake of her father in Cagayan province.

Police identified the victim as Magdalena Bete, of 1501 801 La Grandia Mansion, Gandara street in Binondo.
