The rookie policeman who was killed in a gunbattle with a group of car thieves last Easter Sunday has been posthumously promoted to the next rank, police officials said yesterday.
PO1 Aldie Monteroso joined another slain rookie cop, PO1 Aristotle Tacata of the Makati City police, in the list of heroic officers "who put their lives on the line to protect and serve the citizenry."
"The courage these men displayed is an inspiration to everyone in the police corps. Their bravery exemplifies the willingness of each member of the PNP to die for his country and the citizenry in the call of duty," said Metro police chief Deputy Director General Reynaldo Velasco.
