An off-duty Quezon City policeman moonlighting as a jeepney driver is now in critical condition after he was allegedly ambushed by two armed men on board a motorcycle Sunday night in Caloocan City.
Victim was PO3 Alfonso Doria, of Selina Homes, Camarin, Caloocan City and assigned at Station 5 of the Central Police District (CPD). He was rushed to the FEU Hospital in Fairview, Quezon City for treatment.
Police said the victim sustained a gunshot wound on the left shoulder as he drove his passenger jeepney (DTH 227) along Camarin Road.
Investigation showed at about 7:30 p.m. Sunday, the victim noticed two motorcycle-riding men were tailing them and seconds later, several shots were heard, one bullet hitting him in the left upper back side. The jeepney careened off the road stopping only after hitting a house.
Chief Inspector Mario Dapilloza, of Sub-station 5, however, said the shots could have been intended for Dorias passengers, who earlier had a spat with the two men on board the motorcycle. Jerry Botial
