Killed were Antonio Macacado, 48, and Rolando Narca, 43, residents of Parola Compound, Tondo, Manila. Macacado died on the spot while Narca died while undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital.
Narcas brother, Elarde and a money-lender friend Sujit Humal survived the attack, which took place at around 10 a.m. at Gate 5, Area H, Parola Compound also in Tondo.
Investigators, led by SPO3 Dennis Javier, said the victims were walking along the area escorting Humal, who was collecting money from borrowers, when the suspects approached them.
Larca said the suspects suddenly pulled out handguns and shot Macacado in the head and Narca in the chest.
Bystanders did to intervene for fear that they, too, would be killed.
Javier theorized that revenge could have been the motive for the killing after probers gathered that the victims arrested one of three robbers last week shortly after carrying out a heist in the area.
Two of the robbers escaped and believed to have killed the victims in retaliation. Cecille Suerte Felipe
