Bank guard hurt in robbery try

A security guard was injured after three armed men attempted to rob bank personnel while transporting a still unidentified amount of money in Ermita, Manila.

Initial report identified the injured guard as Richard Jacoba, who was one of two guards escorting an Allied bank teller.

The suspects, armed with pistols, surrounded the bank employees at around 3:30 p.m. after they emerged from the bank’s branch at the corner of Guerrero and Remedios streets.

The suspects failed to get the bank’s money. They fled, but not before shooting Jacoba in the back. The guard was declared out of danger at the Philippine General Hospital. – Jose Aravilla
