UVVRP re-implemented in San Juan municipality

The San Juan Municipal Council (Sangguniang Bayan), in a special session held yesterday, passed Resolution No. 11 calling for the lifting of the suspension of the Unified Vehicle Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP) according to Councilor Dante Santiago.
Santiago said since the number-coding program was experimentally lifted, monstrous traffic jams have become a daily fare for the residents of San Juan, resulting to huge losses in terms of money, fuel and man-hours.
"We believe that the obvious sudden increase in vehicular volume was brought about by the temporary lifting of the UVVRP, the continued implemention of the color-coding scheme in Makati City and the eventual re-implementation of the same in Mandaluyong City," Santiago said. This has forced thousands of motorists to pass through the major and inner roads of San Juan in going to and coming from their respective points of destination thereby causing mammoth traffic jams even during the dead hours of an ordinary day, Santiago said.
