New overpasses with escalators

Two pedestrian overpasses with escalators will be constructed this April along the Alabang-Zapote Road to help decongest traffic in the citys major thoroughfares according to Las Piñas Mayor Vergel "Nene" Aguilar.
Aguilar said the modern overpass is projected to encourage the regular and frequent use of the overpass aimed to ensure the safety of pedestrians and motorists.
He said the overpasses will also provide convenience specially to senior citizens, women and children and persons with disabilities.
City engineer Rose Bantog said the proposed modern overpasses will be constructed in two major intersections along the city, one near Fernandos Supermarket in Barangay Pamplona II and the other on Marcos Alvarez Avenue near the Lozada market in Barangay Talon I.
Aguilar said the overpasses with escalators will ease the movement of vehicles along Alabang-Zapote Road caused by the sudden increase in the volume of vehicles coming from Coastal Road and the Alabang area.
The increase in volume of vehicles was noted last year with the opening of the Diosdado Macapagal Boulevard, the mayor said. Southbound motorists going to Cavite or Muntinlupa prefer passing through Las Piñas apparently to avoid paying high fees at the Skyway as well as to avoid the heavy traffic on Aguinaldo Highway in Cavite.
