PSG man dies in road mishap

A motorcycle-riding cop assigned to the Presidential Security Group (PSG) slammed into a 10-wheeler truck and was crushed to death Thursday afternoon at Road 10 in Navotas.

Superintendent Javier Quevedo, Northern District Traffic director, identified the victim as SPO1 Pedro Vicedo, 37, a member of the Philippine National Police (PNP) assigned to the PSG in Malacañang.

Ricardo Bulatao, 41, married, a native of Dagupan City and driver of the Isuzu 10-wheeler truck (ULW 620), immediately surrendered to authorities after the incident.

PO3 Ferdinand Manapat, case investigator, disclosed that the incident took place around 4:45 p.m. the other day along R-10 in front of the Fish Wealth Canning Corp. in Navotas.

The southbound cargo truck was cruising along R-10. The victim, on board a government-issued 900cc Yamaha motorcycle, was traveling in the same direction on the left side of the truck.

The 10-wheeler then made a sudden turn to the left as it entered the canning firm’s driveway. Vicedo apparently got distracted and slammed into the truck’s rear left tire. Carried by his momentum, Vicedo and his big bike, now out of control, then skidded into the truck’s middle undercarriage and was crushed under its rear tires. Not knowing what just happened, Bulatao continued to maneuver his truck into the canning firm’s compound. Jerry Botial
