Charged at the Pasig City Prosecutors Office was Manjit Singh, 30, a buy-and-sell businessman residing at 577 Gallos Compound, Jennys Avenue, Barangay Maybunga.
Singh denied the charges against him but the victim, Claudeth, (not her real name) positively identified him during a confrontation at the office of Chief Superintendent Rolando Sacramento, director of the Eastern Police District (EPD).
Claudeth said she started working as Singhs housemaid last Jan. 11. On the first night of employment, she said Singh, who was reeking of liquor, barged into her room and, at knifepoint, succeeded in raping her.
According to Claudeth, Singh would lock the doors at daytime apparently to prevent her from reporting the rape incident to the police.
Last Jan. 25, Singh allegedly raped her again.
However, she managed to escape and report the incident to Rep. Henry Lanot of the lone district of Pasig City after Singh left the house without locking the doors.
Lanot then sought the assistance of Sacramento who ordered Singh arrested.
Singh is currently detained at the EPD headquarters along Caruncho Avenue. Non Alquitran
