Priest found dead inside quarters

A 33-year-old priest preparing his thesis on Canon Law was found dead inside his quarters in Sta. Cruz, Manila shortly before noon yesterday.

Police said the body of Fr. Mylo Dacayo was in a state of decomposition when discovered by assistant parish priest Dante Funelas, 37, at 11 a.m. at Room 45 of the Sta. Cruz Church.

The victim was last seen alive by laundrywoman Edna Austria Tuesday morning. He was seen walking near the church patio, according to homicide detective Ed Paterno.

Funelas said he sensed something was wrong when Dacayo had not come out of his airconditioned room for more than a day. – Cecille Suerte Felipe
