Police arrested yesterday two construction workers after they robbed and beat to death their employer, a 51 year-old woman shortly after midnight inside her home in Novaliches, Quezon City.
Victim Milagros Lopinto, a businesswoman, of Lot 8, Block 6, Camachile St., Palmera Homes in Barangay Sta. Monica, suffered serious blows to the head and was pronounced dead on arrival at the Far Eastern University hospital. The suspects, Alber Alba, 21, and Ronald Besina, 22, both of Pontiverde Rizal in Roxas City, are now detained at the Central Police District hospital awaiting proper charges to be filed.
Investigators said that the guilt-ridden suspects even sought assistance from Lopintos neighbors and brought her to the said hospital. Recovered from the killers were an undetermined amount of cash and assorted pieces of jewelry.
Initial reports showed that the two men are construction workers hired by the victim to do some renovations on her residence. The incident occurred at about 1:30 am. Lopintos husband was not with her at the time.
PO2 Joselito Gagaza told The STAR that the suspects managed to gain entrance inside Lopintos home by breaking the locks of the front door. They immediately went straight to the masters bedroom.
The men took some cash, a gold bracelet and necklace from Lopintos drawer.
